Make this vibrant, refreshing strawberry lemonade using homemade fresh strawberry syrup. It is a perfect pink drink aesthetic for National Lemonade Day or as a mocktail base.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water (for syrup)
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 46 lemons)
  • 4 cups cold water (for lemonade)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices and extra strawberries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the fresh strawberry syrup: Combine strawberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Cook for 10 minutes, mashing the strawberries slightly.
  2. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing on the solids to extract all liquid. Discard the solids. Let the syrup cool completely.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice and 4 cups of cold water. Stir well.
  4. Add the cooled fresh strawberry syrup to the pitcher. Start with half the syrup and taste, adding more until you reach your desired sweetness and color.
  5. Stir everything together until fully combined.
  6. Serve immediately over ice. Garnish each glass with lemon slices and fresh strawberries for a beautiful pink drink aesthetic.

Notes

  • For a thicker, cold foam topping, blend heavy cream with a small amount of leftover strawberry syrup until slightly thickened.
  • This recipe makes an excellent mocktail for kids when served without spirits.
  • If you want a quicker syrup, you can blend the cooked mixture and strain it without simmering for the full 10 minutes.
