Create a visually stunning, no-bake patriotic berry trifle perfect for Memorial Day or graduation parties. This dessert features distinct layers of cake, cream, and fresh berries for an easy crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) package pound cake, sliced
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the whipped cream: In a large bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the cream cheese layer: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy. Gently fold half of the prepared whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until just combined.
  3. Assemble the trifle: Use a large glass trifle bowl to show the layers. Place half of the sliced pound cake pieces in the bottom layer.
  4. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake layer.
  5. Top the cream cheese layer with half of the strawberries and half of the blueberries.
  6. Repeat the layers: Add the remaining pound cake, followed by the remaining cream cheese mixture.
  7. Create the top berry layer: Arrange the remaining strawberries, blueberries, and all of the raspberries decoratively on top to form the red, white, and blue aesthetic.
  8. Garnish: Gently spread the remaining plain whipped cream over the top layer of berries for the white contrast, or pipe it around the edges.
  9. Chill the patriotic berry trifle for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the cake to soften slightly.

Notes

  • For a firmer texture, use angel food cake instead of pound cake.
  • To make this an easy trifle for a crowd, assemble it in individual glasses instead of one large bowl.
  • If you want a brighter red layer, lightly macerate the strawberries with a teaspoon of sugar for 15 minutes before layering.
